Depression, anxiety, lack of focus, memory problems, anger, obsessiveness – how’s your brain?
Hello. I’m back…for now. I believe that life with my kids has placed me in a season where I will be consistently posting inconsistently.
Today I wanted to share with you about my latest find. It’s dealing with brain health. Recently, I completed a portion of a writing project; however, I was at a standstill. I knew the process I was taking my readers through was sound, but I wasn’t getting the total breakthrough that I knew was possible for myself. So, if it’s not good enough for me, it’s definitely not good enough for my readers.
So how does this relate to brain health you ask?
Well, the premise of my project is on conquering the things in life that bog you down and keep you from living the abundant life we as Christians are meant to live – free of fears, anxieties, self-consciousness, etc. But, as I mentioned, something was holding me back.
Through a series of crazy events, I found myself in Barnes and Nobles one Sunday and stumbled across this book. The timing was right. Something needed to change. I bought the book.Change Your Brain, Change Your Life (Revised and Expanded): The Breakthrough Program for Conquering Anxiety, Depression, Obsessiveness, Lack of Focus, Anger, and Memory Problems
A heads up. This book can be intense at times. You will get a full scientific explanation along with studies to back everything up. There is so much information that I had to mark the pages that were pertinent to me and my loved ones and then go back and take notes for each of us individually. However, I cannot recommend it enough! I bought this book to help me, which it definitely has, almost immediately upon trying one of the suggestions for my brain type.
Unexpected Results. Truly eye-opening!
In addition, I now have a clearer understanding of so many people in my life. Some of the information I have gathered is lifechanging and has the power to affect our entire family in a more positive way. Also, I have a new understanding of some of the difficult people in my life, not an excuse, but a knowledge of what may be motivating them.
In the book, Dr. Amen focuses on each part of the brain. He explains the behaviors of a person with good vs. poor function in that area of the brain as well as how to balance it. He uses a four-point approach that includes proper diet (not the Standard American Diet- which is truly what the acronym says SAD!), exercise, social, spiritual and biological – which includes supplements as well as medication suggestions if needed.
So why am I telling you this?
Because it will be a game changer for you as well. Even if you believe your brain is balanced and you feel good, there is someone in your life who isn’t – traumatic brain injuries, anxiety, depression, lack of focus, anger, memory problems, Alzheimer’s, ADD. We all know someone who can benefit. Whether you’re reading for lifestyle changes or just to get a better understanding of those around you, PICK UP THIS BOOK TODAY, you won’t regret it!
*side note: if purchasing “used” be sure to get the revised and expanded version for updated more natural treatment options as part of the four-point approach to brain health.
I would love to hear from you. Let me know if you decide to read the book and what you think. Also, be sure to share your results if you’re comfortable talking about them. I pray this book impacts your life as much as it has ours!
Until next time,
